BBQ Party 2015

On 28th July, we held a BBQ party at the university campus as a farewell party for three international students from Thailand and a welcome party for Dr. Gengfa Fang and Dr. Jantana Panyavaraporn.

PARE Program Final Presentations

Today, three international students from Thailand have made their final presentations at Hokkaido University. This is a part of Hokkaido University PARE Program.

In our laboratory, three international students, Ms. Teeranoot Japunya, Mr. Vasitphon Pawankiattikun, and Mr. Khamphuea Somkiat, from Thammasat University, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thailand, are staying as special audit students from Jan. 8, 2015. They will leave Japan the end of July.

During their almost seven months stay at Hokkaido University, they studied hard for researching their topics and learning new fields with other students of our laboratory. Today was the official closing ceremony with their presentations. I’m please to say their presentations were excellent.

2015 IEEE International Conference on Digital Signal Processing (DSP 2015)

Last July 21-24, students from the ICN laboratory presented their research works at the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Digital Signal Processing. Among the presenters from the ICN lab were Mr. Federico Ang and Mr. Takahiro Inatsuki, supervised by Prof. Hiroshi Tsutsui. The following papers were then included in the conference proceedings:

  • “An FPGA Implementation of Low-latency Video Transmission System Using Lossless and Near-lossless Line-based Compression”, by Takahiro INATSUKI, Masato MATSUURA, Kosuke MORINAGA, Hiroshi TSUTSUI and Yoshikazu MIYANAGA
  • “Time-Varying LP Cepstral Features for Improved Isolated Word Speech Recognition” by Federico ANG, Hiroshi TSUTSUI and Yoshikazu MIYANAGA
  • “Framework of Surveillance Video Analysis and Transmission System using Background Modeling and MIMO-OFDM”, by Rhandley CAJOTE, Watchara RUANGSANG, Supavadee ARAMVITH, Prasit PRAPINMONGKOLKARN, Yoshikazu MIYANAGA and Takao ONOYE

The Future of Mobile Networks: 5G and Beyond (Advanced Lectures in Media and Network Technology II, 2015)

From July 27, an intensive course entitled “The Future of Mobile Networks: 5G and Beyond” will start. This course is organized as Advanced Lectures in Media and Network Technology II (2015) by Division of Media and Network Technologies. Lecturers of this course are Dr. Gengfa Fang (Macquarie University, Australia) and Dr. Alia Asheralieva. The number of lectures is 8 in total. For more information, please visit here.
