The Student Branch Networking Workshop 2025 at Hokkaido is organized to bring together Student Branch members from across Japan for discussions on future collaboration strategies and the further development of SB activities.

At the IEEE Student Branch Leadership Training Workshop (SBLTW) 2025, held on September 28, 2025, each SB shared its activities and challenges through poster presentations.
Building on those discussions, this workshop will focus on developing concrete ideas for future co-hosted events and establishing a sustainable framework for continued cooperation.

On Day 1, participating students will deliver research presentations and activity reports to deepen mutual understanding of each SB’s initiatives.
In addition, the IEICE Tohoku University SB will conduct an Activity Report & Event Management seminar to support the enhancement of planning and organizational skills across SBs.

On Day 2, we will hold a discussion session on SB cooperation, aiming to organize specific proposals for future activities and potential joint events.
These ideas will serve as a foundation for planning collaborative projects and continuous cooperation in the coming years.

Student Networking Event at the 2025 Hokkaido Joint Convention of Institutes of Electrical and Information Engineers

On November 2, 2025, at the Hokkaido Section Joint Convention of Institutes of Electrical and Information Engineers held at Muroran Institute of Technology.

Five students from the following universities gave presentations:

  • Hokkaido University of Science
  • Hokkaido University
  • Muroran Institute of Technology
  • Kitami Institute of Technology

Ms. Morikawa, treasurer of IEEE Hokkaido University Student Branch, gave a presentation on the activities of IEEE SB and the advantages of establishing a branch.

Through the presentations, we were able to learn about student life in other universities and laboratories, and had a very meaningful time.

IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (HTC) 2025

From the Hokkaido University Student Branch, Mr. Ishisaki (Chair, M2), Ms. Morikawa (Treasurer, M1), and Mr. Kawashima (B4) participated in the IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (HTC) 2025, which was held at Chiba University of Commerce from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

IEEE R10 HTC is an international conference dedicated to advancing Humanitarian Technology that aim to improve human welfare and contribute to sustainable development.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, including IoT, smart cities, climate change, security, disaster management, and healthcare.

During the poster session, Mr. Ishisaki made a poster presentation and received valuable questions and advice from experts across various fields.
Through keynote speeches and diverse technical sessions, participants gained new insights from multiple disciplines.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the IEEE Japan Council Student Activities Committee (JC SAC) for their generous support.
We will make the most of this meaningful experience in our future activities.

IEEE Student Branch Leadership Training Workshop 2025

Mr. Ishisaki (SB Chair, M2), Ms. Morikawa (SB Treasurer, M1), Mr. Kawashima (B4) participated in the IEEE Student Branch Leadership Training Workshop (SBLTW) 2025, which was held at Chiba University of Commerce on Sunday, September 28.

IEEE SBLTW is an annual event where student officers from IEEE Student Branches across Japan gather to discuss their activities and future plans for branch management.

In the poster session, we introduced the activities of the Hokkaido University Student Branch. Many participants showed great interest in our work, which further motivated us to continue and expand our activities.

Through other events such as the workshop hosted by the Chiba University of Commerce Student Branch and social gathering, we also deepened our connections with participants from all over Japan.

IEEE Japan YP Study Lab 2025 in Muroran

Dr. Hiroshi Tsutsui, Counselor of the IEEE Hokkaido University Student Branch, participated in the IEEE Japan YP Study Lab 2025 in Muroran, which was held at Muroran Institute of Technology on Saturday, May 24. Following the Study Lab, YP Meet was held, where participants shared updates on their respective Section activities and discussed upcoming plans. It was a meaningful opportunity for mutual exchange.

Internet Symposium (application deadline: Feb 14 (Fri) 23:59 )

We would like to inform you that the Internet Symposium organized by the IEICE Hokkaido Section Student Activity Committee co-organized by the IEEE Hokkaido University Student Branch.

This symposium is an event for students, where all research presentations and Q&A sessions will be conducted online. We hope that you will use it as a forum for presenting and discussing research results. We look forward to seeing many of you there.

IEEE SB YP Workshop 2024

The IEEE Student Branch Workshop was held on 11 December (Wed) in the 11th floor conference room of Hokkaido University.

This workshop is an independent student presentation part of the Hokkaido Young Professionals Workshop held by IEEE Sapporo YP every year. This year was the second attempt.

In addition to Hokkaido University SB and Sapporo YP, Kansai YP, Kansai University SB and Muroran Institute of Technology SB co-organised the meeting.

The SB Wordshop and YP Workshop were held at the meeting.

In the SB Workshop, the Hokkaido University SB and Kansai University SB gave talks on SB and student life, as well as presentations on their research.
In addition to the presentations, group work and mini-games were organised by the Hokkaido University SB.

In the YP Workshop, the winners of the YP Award gave lectures on their research topics.
We also had a valuable opportunity to participate in a tour of the research facilities at Hokkaido University.

It was a great opportunity for students and researchers who are geographically distant from each other to interact with each other and to listen to lectures by outstanding YP researchers.
We are very happy to have this opportunity.

In conjunction with the Hokkaido Joint Convention of Institutes of Electrical and Information Engineers, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd, 2024, we are pleased to announce the student networking event. This will be co-hosted together with the following three branches.
